Jessica Hoppe is a New York-based writer and social media influencer who launched a blog because no one would publish her work. She started out in fashion as a buyer for Ralph Lauren and Intermix until she realized commodities weren't the antidote for chronic insecurity. Plus, she couldn't actually afford it. So she split for Europe with an older man where she discovered she wanted to be a writer. Funny the relationship didn't work out but the writer thing stuck! She has since been featured on HUFFPO, Yahoo, Who What Wear and worked as Lifestyle Editor for StyleCaster. She founded her blog, Nueva Yorka in 2015, where she tackles the lifelong conundrum of never being Latina enough for Latinos or white enough for gringos. She also gets into politics and gripes about boys. Catch her daily on Instagram for Spanglish quips, over-shares, and a cute photo or two — sans filters or photoshop. She hates filters. She grew up in a Spanish speaking home — her father is Ecuadorian and German, her mother from Honduras. She is now based in New York City where she lives alone. She doesn't even have a cat.
